A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT WONDER

Before you
turn the page.

Kobalto enjoying a book.
Do I need a Kobo e-reader?

No. Koby works in your browser with books and documents you already have. If you do have a Kobo, you can also import its books, highlights, and reading progress.

What kinds of books can I open?

Koby supports DRM-free EPUB, PDF, MOBI/AZW3, FB2, Word, CBZ/CBR comics, HTML, TXT, and Markdown. EPUB and FB2 preserve chapters best; PDFs work best with selectable text. Koby does not remove DRM.

Can I try it without creating an account?

Yes. Open a sample or a book and read or listen with local voices without an account. Sign in for AI descriptions, translation, and Study Mode. Comics offer a signed-out preview; account limits apply beyond it. Cloud narration and library sync are Pro features.

Who is Koby for?

Anyone who wants another way into a book. Listening, text highlighting, and image descriptions offer different ways to explore a story, including for blind and low-vision readers. Schools can use class links and teacher-shared books.

What happens to my books and data?

Basic local reading happens on your device. Cloud and AI features send the content they need to the relevant services. Read our privacy policy for details, or visit Koby for Schools for classroom-specific information.
